Origin Notes

Fazenda Boa Vista | Cerrado Mineiro, Brazil

This exceptional single-origin coffee comes from Fazenda Boa Vista, a family-owned estate nestled in the heart of Brazil’s renowned Cerrado Mineiro region. Grown at an elevation of 1,210 meters, these Yellow Catuai coffee cherries develop slowly, producing remarkable sweetness and balance.

Roasted in small batches at Hill Tree Roastery, this coffee showcases everything we love about premium Brazilian coffees—rich chocolate flavors, a velvety body, and a smooth finish that makes it equally enjoyable black or paired with milk.

Cerrado Mineiro | Brazil’s Premier Coffee Region

Brazil has long been recognized as the world’s largest coffee producer, and Cerrado Mineiro has earned a reputation as one of its finest growing regions.

Located in the state of Minas Gerais, the region combines warm sunny days, cool evenings, predictable rainfall, and mineral-rich soils to create ideal coffee-growing conditions. Elevations ranging from 900 to 1,400 meters allow coffee cherries to mature gradually, concentrating natural sugars while producing exceptionally clean, balanced cups.

These consistent growing conditions have made Cerrado Mineiro one of the world’s most respected coffee-producing regions and a favorite among specialty coffee roasters.

Yellow Catuai | Built For Sweetness

This coffee is produced exclusively from Yellow Catuai, one of Brazil’s most celebrated Arabica varieties.

Known for its naturally sweet profile, Yellow Catuai consistently produces coffees with rich chocolate flavors, caramelized sugars, and a smooth, approachable character. Its balanced acidity and creamy body make it particularly well suited for espresso while remaining incredibly versatile across virtually every brewing method.

The result is a coffee that’s comforting, refined, and remarkably consistent from cup to cup.

Natural Processing

After harvesting, the coffee cherries are dried with the fruit still intact—a method known as natural processing.

As the cherries slowly dry beneath the Brazilian sun, the fruit’s natural sugars are gradually absorbed into the coffee bean. This extended contact enhances sweetness, body, and complexity while producing the dessert-like flavors Brazil is famous for.

Expect layers of dark chocolate, buttery toffee, roasted hazelnut, and a lingering molasses finish that creates a rich, satisfying cup without excessive bitterness.

Single-Estate Traceability

Unlike coffees blended from multiple farms, every bean in this bag can be traced directly back to Fazenda Boa Vista.

Single-estate coffees offer remarkable consistency because the growing conditions, farming practices, and processing methods remain controlled throughout production. That attention to detail allows the unique characteristics of the farm to shine in every roast.

For coffee lovers who appreciate transparency and craftsmanship, few experiences compare to enjoying a coffee with a story that begins and ends on one exceptional farm.

Why You’ll Love This Coffee

If your ideal cup is smooth, chocolate-forward, and incredibly easy to drink, this Brazilian single-origin belongs in your daily rotation.

Its rich body, low acidity, and naturally sweet finish make it an outstanding choice for espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, French press, drip coffee, or pour-over brewing. Whether you’re starting your morning or crafting café-quality drinks at home, this coffee delivers a consistently satisfying experience.

Like every Hill Tree Roastery coffee, it’s roasted in small batches to highlight the unique qualities developed at origin while creating a cup that’s approachable enough to enjoy every day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this a good espresso coffee?

Absolutely. This coffee was selected because it produces a rich, balanced espresso with exceptional crema, chocolate sweetness, and enough body to stand up beautifully in milk-based drinks like lattes and cappuccinos.

Why are Brazilian coffees so popular?

Brazil consistently produces coffees known for their smooth body, chocolate flavors, low acidity, and incredible versatility. These qualities make Brazilian coffees some of the world’s most approachable and enjoyable everyday coffees.

What does “natural processed” mean?

Natural processing means the coffee cherries are dried with the fruit still surrounding the bean. As the fruit slowly dries, natural sugars and flavors are absorbed into the coffee, creating greater sweetness, a fuller body, and more complex flavor.

Will this coffee taste bitter because it’s a dark roast?

Not at all. At Hill Tree Roastery, we roast to develop sweetness and body—not to create smoky or burnt flavors. You’ll find rich chocolate, toffee, roasted hazelnut, and molasses instead of the harsh bitterness often associated with darker roasts.

What brewing method works best?

This is one of our most versatile coffees. It excels in espresso machines, French press, drip brewers, moka pots, and pour-over setups. Its naturally rich body and balanced sweetness make it forgiving to brew while delivering consistently excellent results across multiple brewing styles.
